Negative Human Influence

  • Because of humans most of the rainforests all over the world are being cleared by chainshaws, bulldozers, and fires.
  • Lots of rainforests' are being deforested of their trees to sell as farming land, because of this, many animals and plants are suffering because the loss of part of their environment.
  • Rainforests used to cover a good 14% of the world and now its down to about 6% because of human influence.
  • Air pollution and water pollution caused by industrial and commercial activities are ruining rainforests and causing harm to the species througout the rainforests.
  • The dumping of trash and waste ruins tropical rainforests.
  • Urbanization is affecting the rainforests because more of the land is being cut down for building space and homes.
  • Hunting and poaching the species of the tropical rainforest deeply affects the balance of nature and the food chain.
  • Tourism in rainforest areas even affects it because then more hotels and resorts are wanting to build closer to the land for more business from tourists.

What Is the Value of Biodiversity?

"At least 40 per cent of the world’s economy and 80 per cent of the needs of the poor are derived from biological resources." Biodiversity is also important because humans rely on it very heavily. Without it we wouldn't have advances with medicine, economic discoveries, realiance on food and nutrition, and helps with climate change. We need all these things, so WE NEED BIODIVERSITY.

 Positive Human Influence

  • Efforts have been made by certain countrys' governments to protect more of the rainforests and put restrictions and laws against harming them.
  • Non- profit organizations around the world are being developed to help the cause and make a difference.
  • Humans use a lot of the rainforests' resources and plants to help make medicines  to fight cancer.
  • Groups like WWF, World Wildlife Fund, are helping out by saving species and protecting the important land the rainforest provides.

Humans sometimes affect the tropical rainforests' equilibrium by accident and not even knowing that what we are doing are affecting all the species throughout the world. We often forget that global warming can destroy habitats too because usually people just remember the deforesting, polluting, etc. Global warming causes a different type of environment because of the added heat and sometimes if the species aren't able to adapt then lots could die.  Humans activites like harvesting, polluting, and poaching are more of the common things we remember that humans do. And what is sad is that us humans know this is bad, but we continue to do it deliberately because we're too lazy to stop it or people just dont care. The human population is threatening biomes all across the world and not just the tropical rainforest. If we continue to kill off species with our bad habits then it could badly affect the equilibrium and  biodiversity of all biomes.

 Solutions to Environmental Problems

  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
  • Pick up trash!
  • Spread the word
  • Use less paper
  • When purchasing wood furniture investigate the source of tropical wood to determine if it was sustainably grown.
