A climatogram is a graph that averages weather in a biome over a certain period of time such as temperature and rainfall. A lot of times the temperature is graphed as a line graph and the precipatation as a bar graph. A climatogram is useful because it helps you with obtaining and interpreting information about a biome.
Below is an example of a climatogram in Iquitos, Peru.

Abiotic Factors
- My biome is the tropical rain forest and it is located in many areas across the world such as Brazil, Columbia, French Guiana, Peru, Venezula, Costa Rica, Belilze, and Suriname.
- The average temperature usually in a tropical rainforest biome is 77 degrees farenheit and about the same temperature year round.
- In the tropical rainforest it is very humid and has a lot of precipitation throughout the year, 250 cm. is about the amount of rainfall a typical rainforest will get.
- Some of the national parks in tropical rainforests across the world are for example the Five Blues Lake National Park in Belize, there they have found almost 200 species of birds and the lake surrounding the park is thought to be 200 ft. deep. At the Five Blues Lake National Park ecologists have found 20 tiny mammal species.
- Another place that has many national parks is the Tropical Rainforest Heritage of Sumatra, there they have 3 national parks: the Gunung Leuser National Park, Kerinci Seblat National Park and Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park.
Biotic Factors
-
Many different plants and animals in the tropical rainforest are bamboo, shrubs, vines, ferns, orchids, fruit trees, cassava, etc.
-
Some of the animals in the tropical rainforest include: monkeys, lemurs, jaguars, toco toucans, lions, snakes, scorpians, and many more.
-
The level of biodeversity obviously is very high because of all the creatures and plants thriving in this biome.
-
Many of these animals have developed adaptations to survive. Two of these in the rainforest include the toco toucans adaptation to the nuts it eats, over time it has developed a bigger and tougher beak to be able to eat their food. The three toed sloth has adapted by surviving with its camoflauge to escape its predators.
